Cookie Policy
Last Updated · September 22, 2026
This page lists every cookie that silentroom.media can set, who sets it, what it is for, and how long it lasts. It supplements our Privacy Policy, which explains the tools behind these cookies and your rights.
1. How consent works on the Journal
When you first visit, a banner asks you to Accept or Decline. Until you choose, no cookie is set at all — not even sr_consent, which is written only when you make a choice — and the only measurement running is Plausible Analytics, which sets no cookies and collects no personal data.
- Accept loads our tag container (Google Tag Manager) and, with it, the analytics and advertising tools listed below. From that moment they may set the cookies in Section 3.
- Decline keeps the tag container unloaded. If you accepted earlier, Decline also deletes the cookies in Section 3 that were set on the silentroom.media domain, and reloads the page without the tools.
- Changing your mind: the Cookie settings control in the footer of every page reopens the banner.
Cookies that vendors set on their own domains (Section 4) are outside our control. We cannot delete them; your browser’s cookie settings can.
2. Strictly necessary
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
sr_consent | SilentRoom Journal (first party) | Remembers your Accept or Decline choice so we can honor it on later visits | 12 months |
Set without consent, as permitted by law; it stores only the word granted or denied.
3. Analytics, advertising, and session recording — only after Accept
All cookies in this section are set on the silentroom.media domain by the tools we load through Google Tag Manager after you click Accept. Lifetimes are as observed on the live site on September 22, 2026; browsers may cap them (Chrome caps every cookie at 400 days).

Tag identifiers, so you can look them up in each vendor’s documentation: Google Tag Manager container GTM-WLWNV49B; Google Analytics 4 property G-9R16XT6KLM; Google Ads account AW-18303449627; Meta pixels 1933187700693749 and 968720909641536; X pixel rd9n9; LinkedIn partner 9733244; Reddit pixel a2_j9cpf71aykad; Microsoft Clarity project xnwf68akew.
4. Cookies set on vendors’ own domains
After Accept, some of the tools above also set cookies on their own domains when your browser loads their scripts or pixels. These are third-party cookies; we do not read them, cannot delete them, and list them here so the picture is complete. Typical examples: Google (doubleclick.net, google.com — ad conversion cookies such as IDE), Microsoft Clarity (clarity.ms — CLID, ANONCHK, MUID, SM), LinkedIn (linkedin.com — bcookie, lidc, li_sugr, UserMatchHistory, AnalyticsSyncHistory), Meta (facebook.com), X (t.co, twitter.com — muc_ads), and Reddit (reddit.com). Their lifetimes and purposes are described in each vendor’s cookie documentation.
5. What we do not use
No cookies for cross-site behavioral advertising run by us, no data sales, no cookies from advertising exchanges other than the measurement tools named above, and no cookies at all from Plausible Analytics, our primary readership statistics tool.
