Questions

What readers ask us most often. If yours is not here, write to us — the Contact page has the addresses and our hours.

What is SilentRoom Journal?

A free online publication about writing in the age of AI, for people whose work is made of words: novelists, journalists, editors, copywriters, researchers. Five sections — The Craft, The Machine, The Method, The Desk, The Stack — collected into quarterly issues. More on the About page.

How often do you publish?

Three to four new pieces a week, gathered into quarterly issues. The Issues page lists everything by issue; the RSS feed and the weekly newsletter carry new pieces as they appear.

Is it free? Is there a paywall?

The journal is free to read and has no paywall. It is supported by the book we publish, We've All Become Prompt Engineers, sold at silentroom.ai. Both are published by SilentRoom Inc.

Who writes the journal — people or AI?

People. Every piece is written and edited by a named author, and our policy on using AI tools in editorial work is published on the Editorial page. Occasionally we publish a literary experiment written in the voice of a historical figure; those pieces are marked as such, and the persona is listed separately from staff authors on the Authors page.

How do I subscribe to the newsletter?

Use the Subscribe button in the header or the form on the home page. One letter a week, no algorithm; every letter has an unsubscribe link. Details of what we store and why are in the Privacy Policy.

Can I pitch a piece?

Yes. Send a short pitch — what the piece argues, why now, and why you — to editorial@silentroom.media. Our standards for sourcing, verification, and voice are on the Editorial page.

I found an error. How do I request a correction?

Write to editorial@silentroom.media with the link and the passage. We review every request; substantive corrections are noted on the piece itself.

Can I quote or republish an article?

Short quotations with a link are welcome. Republishing a piece in full or in substantial part needs written permission — ask editorial@silentroom.media. The Terms of Service have the details.

How do I search the archive?

The Search page looks through titles, summaries, and the full text of every piece; the / key opens it from anywhere on the site.

Who is behind the journal?

SilentRoom Inc., a Delaware corporation, founded by Arsen Revazov, who is also our editor-in-chief. Company details and addresses are on the Contact page.

Is the journal's content advice?

No. Articles, reviews, and comparisons are editorial opinion and information as of their publication date — not legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice. See the Disclaimer.
